Overview
Betterworks has an add-in for Outlook so that you can experience enhanced goal-setting and feedback. It allows you to view and update your goals, view the goals of other people, participate in conversations, and give/receive feedback.
Pre-requisites
- The Betterworks for Outlook add-in must be installed by a Microsoft administrator within your organization.
- Windows 8.1 users must have the Edge WebView2 (Chromium-based) internet browser installed. Internet Explorer is not compatible with the Betterworks Outlook add-in.
- Windows 10 users must have a minimum version of 1903 and Office 365 client version 16.0.11.629.
Note: Operating system and/or browser upgrades should be managed by your organization's IT Team.
Configuration
Note: If your Microsoft administrator has made the add-in mandatory or optional, but enabled by default, you don't need to enable it.
Enable the add-on via the web application
1. Log into Outlook.
2. Select File → Manage Add-ins (or Manage Apps)
Enable the add-on via the desktop application
1. Click the settings icon at the top-right corner of the application.
2. Select Manage Add-ins → My Add-ins → Make updates to Betterworks for Outlook add-in.
The add-in will be at the very top of the application denoted by the Betterworks ("b") icon.
Usage
Access the add-in via the web application
1. Open the right-side panel in Outlook and click the Betterworks ("b") icon.
Note: If you don't see the icon, open any email from any colleague in your organization that has a Betterworks account.
2. Click the three dots at the top-right of the email.
3. Click "Login".
4. Enter your Betterworks credentials.
5. Click "Login" again.
Note: Be sure to pin the panel for full functionality.
Access the add-in via the desktop application
1. Click the three dots at the top of the window (to the right of the "Sync" option).
Goals & Milestones (aka Objectives & Key Results)
View and update your goals and milestones
1. Open the right-side panel in Outlook and click the Betterworks ("b") icon.
2. Click on the goal to display the associated milestones.
3. Enter your progress update or add a comment.
4. Click "Update" to save your changes
View the goals and milestones of others
Note: Only public goals and milestones will be visible however, Super Admins will have visibility on private goals.
1. Open an email from any colleague in your organization that has a Betterworks account.
2. Click "View More" to display their list of goals.
3. Click on a goal to display the associated milestones.
4. Cheer, nudge, or add a comment.
Conversations
View active conversations
1. Click the pop-out icon to view all active conversations or specific conversation details in the Betterworks web application.
Feedback
Request feedback
1. Click "Request".
2. Select a template.
3. Select the feedback providers.
4. Click "Request" again.
Give feedback
1. Click "Give"
2. Select a template.
3. Select the user to whom you'd like to give feedback.
4. Enter feedback
5. Click "Send".
Real-time Usage
Quickly update your goals from the add-in.
Open a colleague's email to give/request feedback.
Add agenda topics for an upcoming 1:1.
Troubleshooting
Ensure that:

You have the latest version of the add-in installed.
- You will need to confer with your Microsoft administrator to confirm this.

The add-in is enabled.
- If your Microsoft administrator has made the add-in mandatory or optional, but enabled by default, you don't need to enable it.
- Your Betterworks calendar is in the future.
- You have entered the correct login credentials.

FAQs
Can I install the Outlook add-in for all users in my organization?

I cannot find the add-in.
You will need to pin it. Open an email from any colleague in your organization that has a Betterworks account and click the pin icon at the top. Now you can find any user profile from the add-in.
I clicked on an email, but I'm only seeing my own goals.
The email is not from a colleague or the colleague does not have a Betterworks account.
Whose goals will I see if there are multiple colleagues in an email thread?
You'll see the goals of the colleague who responded last.
Why can't I see my conversations in the add-in?
You can only view your conversations from the add-in if you have active conversations in the Betterworks web application.
