Overview
The Betterworks homepage is your central hub for performance, alignment, and action. Designed with a user-centric approach, it brings together your most important activities: goals, conversations, feedback, and recognition, into a single, actionable experience. The homepage aims to improve your daily workflow through several key strategies:
- Boosting productivity: It provides a clear outline of tasks, empowering you to concentrate and complete actions on time.
- Maximizing program impact: The design encourages greater adoption of various modules to ensure you are deeply engaged with your growth and acknowledgment.
- Driving alignment and accountability: By offering a centralized view of goals, feedback, and 1:1 meetings, it aligns your efforts with HR and managerial priorities.
Configuration
Note: You must be a Super Admin in Betterworks to enable the homepage for your organization.
To enable the homepage:
- Go to Admin at the bottom of the left-side panel.
- Click Program Management.
- Select Homepage from the drop-down menu.
-
Toggle Enable the homepage for all users.
Even if enabled, users have the option to select their preferred starting page (such as the Goals or Conversations modules) within My Settings.
Employee Experience
The employee experience focuses on individual performance and priorities. The homepage adapts to show you exactly what you need to stay focused and keep your performance moving forward.
Announcement
This section displays any announcement or broadcast message added by administrators, ensuring vital information is widely seen. The card can be expanded or collapsed as needed. Administrators can edit this message via the Admin → Platform Configuration → Branding → Message section.
Tasks to Complete
Located on the left side of the homepage, the Tasks to Complete section acts as your dynamic performance to-do list. It highlights important actions ordered by urgency (due dates) and updates automatically based on active conversation cycles, ongoing feedback requests, and organizational goal-setting periods.
You can click any task to open a detailed modal where you can take immediate action, such as completing a conversation or submitting feedback, without leaving the homepage.
Your Goals (aka Objectives)
This section displays your overall goal progress percentage along with a breakdown of goals that are At Risk, Off Track, or On Track. If any goals require a progress update, it is highlighted here to encourage regular updates.
Your Next 1:1s
Displays your upcoming 1:1s so you can better prepare. Each entry includes the participant's name, the number of agenda items, and the scheduled date and time. Typically, all upcoming 1:1s for the current and following day are listed. However, if there are fewer than three, the next three scheduled meetings will appear regardless of the date.
Your Feedback & Recognition
The Your Feedback card highlights feedback received and requested, keeping the process top-of-mind for professional development. You can also click + Anytime Feedback to give feedback to others immediately. The Your Recognition card highlights the recognition you have received and given within the current business period to foster a culture of appreciation.
Manager Experience
Managers can toggle to the My Direct Reports tab to access a real-time view of their team's performance, engagement, and activity. This view helps managers move from insight to action quickly.

- Assess: Use the My Direct Reports insights to assess goal progress, conversation completion, and feedback coverage.
- Take Action: Nudge employees to close conversations, request feedback, or create goals.
- Reinforce: Repeat the flow regularly to build strong performance habits.
Goal & Conversation Monitoring
-
Goals Overview: View a breakdown of team progress and identify gaps. You can click Ask To Create to prompt employees who do not yet have active goals for the period.
- Conversation Monitoring: Track the percentage of your team with completed conversations. Click Ask To Close to send a quick reminder to employees to close their pending conversations.
Feedback Insights & AI Summary
Monitor feedback activity to see who has received feedback and who may need more input. Managers can Request Feedback directly for a report or click Ask to Request to encourage employee ownership of their development. The AI Summary provides a synthesized view of team feedback to help you identify patterns and prepare for high-impact coaching discussions.
Advanced Task Filtering
Managers have access to three sub-tabs in the Tasks to Complete section:
- All: A complete view of all pending actions across you and your team.
- My Tasks: Tasks assigned specifically to you (e.g., completing a conversation with your own manager).
-
Tasks for Direct Reports: Actions you need to take for your team (e.g., providing feedback or answering conversation questions).
FAQs
Why are nudge actions not appearing on my homepage?
Nudge actions are directly linked to your notification settings. If notifications are disabled at the organization level or for a specific module, the corresponding nudge will be hidden. To enable these, an administrator must navigate to Admin Notifications and ensure System Notifications (for Conversations and Feedback) or Program Emails (for Goals) are toggled On.
Can I take action on tasks without navigating to other modules?
Yes. Clicking on any task in the Tasks to Complete section opens a detailed modal, allowing you to answer questions, give feedback, or update goals without leaving the homepage.
