Overview
Scope and Type are attributes. Scope reflects the focus of who or what will benefit from the completion of goals, while Type helps to classify the expectation of achievement of that goal or milestone.
Enabling Attributes
To enable scopes for goals and milestones:
- Click Admin on the left panel.
- Select the Program Management.
- Select Goals.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Select the Scope header to expand the section.
- Enable and configure goal and/or milestone scopes.
- The default scopes are Business, Personal, and Developmental. However, you can contact your Program Architect, Customer Success Manager, or the Support Team (support@betterworks.com) to customize them.
- Select the Type header to expand the section.
- Enable and configure goal and/or milestone types.
- The default types are Committed and Aspirational. However, you can contact your Program Architect, Customer Success Manager, or the Support Team (support@betterworks.com) to customize them.

Scroll up and click Save in the top-right corner.
Using Attributes
Once added, a goal's scope and type will be visible throughout Betterworks.
- Leave the Admin module.
- Click Goal on the left panel.
- Click Create New Goal.
- Select the Scope header to expand the section.
- Select the scope option.
- Select the Type header to expand the section.
- Select the type option.

Click Publish.
Note: The same process can be done for milestones.
Filtering
- Click Goal on the left panel.
- Click Filter.
- Select the Scope header.
- Select the scope option.
- Click Apply.

What is the difference between scope and type?

Can I customize the default scopes and types in Betterworks?
