Overview
Department management in Betterworks allows you to:
- Create departments.
- Update existing departments.
- Assign parent/child department hierarchy.
Below is the process for these actions.
Process
Create a Department
Note: You must be a Super Admin in Betterworks to complete the process.
- Log in to Betterworks.
- Click Admin (bottom of the left-side panel).
- Click User Management.
- Select Department from the drop-down menu.
- Click Create Department (top-right corner).
- Enter the department details.
- Click Create.
- Review the department data for accuracy and completeness.
Note: You may need to sort the list or search by name.
Assign Parent/Child Department Hierarchy
Note: You must be a Super Admin in Betterworks to complete the process.
- Log in to Betterworks.
- Click Admin (bottom of the left-side panel).
- Click User Management.
- Select Departments from the drop-down menu.
- Locate the department.
Note: You may need to sort the list or search by name.
- Click the 3 horizontal dots on the far right of the department.
- Select Edit from the drop-down menu.
- Assign a parent department.
- Click Create.

Update a Department
Note: You must be a Super Admin in Betterworks to complete the process.
- Log in to Betterworks.
- Click Admin (bottom of the left-side panel).
- Click User Management.
- Select Departments from the drop-down menu.
- Locate the department.
Note: You may need to sort the list or search by name.
- Click the 3 horizontal dots on the far right of the department.
- Select Edit from the drop-down menu.
- Update the department details.
- Click Update.
- Review the department data for accuracy and completeness.
Note: You may need to sort the list or search by name.
Deactivate a Department
Note: You must be a Super Admin in Betterworks to complete the process.
- Log in to Betterworks.
- Click Admin (bottom of the left-side panel).
- Click User Management.
- Select Departments from the drop-down menu.
- Locate the department.
Note: You may need to sort the list or search by name.
- Click the 3 horizontal dots on the far right of the department.
- Select Deactivate from the drop-down menu.
- Click Yes when prompted.
Note: If you attempt to deactivate a department that includes active users, you will encounter an error. Reassign the active users to another department and try again.
- Review the department for accuracy and completeness.
