Spring Release Notes: May 2026
This Spring release introduces a range of enhancements across Betterworks NextGen, including updates to Analytics, Talent Management, Conversations, Goals, Meetings, Engage, and more.
As part of our evolving product delivery approach, Betterworks will now follow three major feature release cycles each year: Spring, Summer, and Winter. These seasonal releases will deliver broader platform enhancements and new functionality across Betterworks.
Between major releases, we will continue publishing bi-weekly release notes covering:
- Bug fixes and performance improvements
- Minor enhancements and usability updates
- Updates across Classic, NextGen, and Engage
At the conclusion of each seasonal release cycle, release notes will also include a consolidated summary of all major features introduced during that cycle.
To support a smoother rollout experience, new functionality may be enabled gradually for select customers using feature-based release controls. This allows Betterworks to provide more flexible access to new capabilities, including Early Access Programs (EAPs) for selected features prior to general availability.
Previous release notes containing Classic-only updates can be found here.
Analytics
- Recognition Reports are now available for the Recognition module, offering insights for both Hashtags and Comments. You can find further details on these reports here.
- A new option has been introduced to restrict HR Admins from viewing Provider details within Anonymous Feedback Reports & Insights. Detailed information on configuring this setting is available here.
- Confirmed meetings are now factored into Conversation Status calculations within Insights. This ensures accurate alignment between the Conversations module data and its corresponding reporting.
App Platform
- Users with Admin privileges will have these privileges automatically removed upon deactivation. This will prevent potentially unintended Admin access if the user is later rehired in a different role.
Talent Management
- Succession: Once enabled for your account, Super Admins and Admins will have access to the Succession feature. This feature provides a structured, evidence-informed way to ensure a steady pipeline of high-performing talent for critical roles. Once Admins have identified relevant roles and talent, potential successors can be evaluated using data from Betterworks modules. To add Succession to your Betterworks package, please contact your Customer Success Manager. Further information on this feature can be found in the documentation attached to this article.
- Talent Profile: The Unified Talent Profile brings together insights from a user's performance history across the Betterworks modules, along with their Skills, to create a unified view of their achievements and future potential. Further information on this feature can be found in the documentation attached below.
Calibration
- Calibration for NextGen: Once enabled for your account, Calibration is a comprehensive, integrated feature within our Talent Intelligence System that supports organizations with a scalable approach to calibrating team members based on insights from Conversations. To add Calibration to your Betterworks package, please contact your Customer Success Manager. Further information on this feature can be found in the dedicated Calibration (NextGen) Support Article and in the documentation attached below.
Conversations, Feedback, and Recognition
- Conversations: A change has been implemented to the status at which Skip-level Managers can view responses in Conversations. Previously, Skip-level Managers could only view responses after the user had shared them. Access is now updated to once the user has submitted their responses.
- Conversations: A step-based, timeline progress indicator has been added within the Conversation module. This indicator updates as each step is completed, clarifying the current and next required actions. It displays only the milestones configured for the cycle (e.g., Answer, Share, Confirm).
- Feedback: Super Admins can now choose to receive bulk PDF Files for scheduled Feedback cycles via SFTP delivery. This feature requires internal enablement by Betterworks - if you'd like to use this feature, please contact your CSM.
- Feedback: Admins can now pre-define Feedback providers using a CSV upload, automating reviewer assignment for scheduled cycles, improving consistency and reducing manual setup. Further details for this can be found here.
- Conversations & Feedback: Super Admins may now delete individual Conversations & Feedback records, or perform bulk deletions via CSV upload directly in the user interface. Instructions for this can be found in the Feedback support article and Conversations support article respectively.
- Conversations & Feedback: Developer Documentation has been updated to include NextGen API support.
NextGen Homepage
- Homepage cards for Meetings and Goals are dynamically displayed based on organizational configuration and the user's Group or Department.
Goals
- Developer Documentation has been updated to include NextGen API support.
- Admins can now bulk-add Goals via CSV file upload directly in Betterworks. In addition, support for asynchronous processing with real-time status tracking, error reporting, and import history has been added, allowing Admins to reprocess files, download error reports, and safely revert imports. Full details for this feature can be found here.
- Goal metrics can now include negative, decreasing, and decimal values.
- Goals can now be filtered by 'Type' on the Goals homepage.
- Goal Filter views now persist across modules and navigation within a user's session in Betterworks, to reduce the need to re-add filters after navigating elsewhere.
- Goals with 5% or less expected progress are no longer automatically marked as “At Risk”
- Draft goals are now automatically saved in-progress, allowing users to resume goal creation where they left off when returning to the Goals flow.
Integrations
-
The permission requirements for the Outlook Calendar Integration for Betterworks 1:1 Meetings have been updated from requiring
Read.Writeaccess toReadaccess. As a result of this update, some Betterworks users may be prompted to request administrative approval when attempting to sync their existing connection.
Meetings
- Admins will now have the ability to enable the Meetings/1:1 module by Group and Department.
User Interface
- An Admin-controlled permission has been introduced allowing matrix managers to view and/or edit Conversations on behalf of the primary manager. This can apply to both Scheduled and Anytime Conversations.
- The Org Chart now supports viewing matrix reporting relationships (matrix managers and matrix reports) via a contextual Matrix button on a user’s card.
- Within the Conversations & Meetings modules, a new Panel will appear on the right hand side, allowing users to view and manage relevant goals in context without leaving their workflow. Further details can be found here.
Engage
- A number of Engagement survey templates (Mini, Standard, and Extended) now have default translations across 7 supported languages, enabling organisations to quickly deploy surveys to a global audience without manual translation. For more information, please see the dedicated support article.
